For people opening an account, accessing a service or completing an important task online, proving who they are should feel clear and familiar. Businesses need confidence in the information they receive, while customers deserve a straightforward experience.
That is the opportunity we see in Canada: make trusted identity verification easier to include in digital services, while keeping each organization in control of its own decisions.
A Canadian path, designed for Canadian services
DLBR is exploring a Canada-focused identity verification path with Interac Hub. This is a separate track from our work on European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallets and eIDAS 2.0. Different markets have different services, expectations and rules, and we want to keep those distinctions clear.
The Canada work is planned and remains in early sandbox development. It is not available for production use. Supported use cases, information shared and timing will be confirmed as the work progresses.
Making verification feel simpler
Our aim is to help businesses build more direct online journeys, so customers can complete a verification step without unnecessary confusion. A verified result can inform a business process; each organization remains responsible for the decisions it makes and the requirements that apply to its service.
Canada’s verification landscape continues to evolve. Interac has separately announced new identity verification and fraud defenses for its Interac Verified document verification service. That announcement is useful market context, but it does not describe the Interac Hub work DLBR is exploring.
Planned, with details to follow
We’ll share more as the Canadian work develops, including the customer journeys it is intended to support and when it may become available. If your organization is considering digital identity verification in Canada, talk with our team.
